Players at Quakecon reported the multiplayer gameplay to include elements similar to those in previous Quake and Doom games. Multiplayer modes are Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Tourney, Capture the Flag, Arena CTF and DeadZone. Quake 4, like Quake II, is not related to the first Quake in any respects other than name and logo. Quake III Arena is not part of the sequence because it focused on online multiplayer gaming and provided only a very limited single player mode, which essentially pitted the player against computer-controlled bots. Plotwise, the game is a sequel to Quake II. The Xbox 360 version of Quake 4 is based on the Special Collectors Edition, and therefore also includes Quake II. A special DVD Collectors Edition also exists, including promotional material and the game Quake II with its expansions. Quake 4 went gold in early October 2005 and was released on Octofor the PC, and later for the Xbox 360 and the Apple Macintosh.

In this case, id Software supervised the development of the game as well as providing the Doom 3 engine upon which it was built. Raven Software has collaborated with id Software, the creators and usual developers of Quake games in the past. It was developed by Raven Software and distributed by Activision.

Quake 4 is the fourth title in the series of Quake FPS computer games. Some Good 1v1/Tourney Servers(needs some east coast suggestions) This is my first Game On thread so if the OP is missing something please let me know.

So here I am, hoping some fellow PA folks would also enjoy a bit of casual 1v1 tourney-style Q4. This may or may not be a dangerous choice, as most players have more than a year of experience playing on the game, and some take it all very seriously, but bots are too retarded to play with.

Grab it here.I recently rediscovered an enthusiasm for PC FPS, and decided to start playing Quake 4. It was developped by HOC and (the timedemo was actually made by Hilbert) and is of course a free tool. PS - if you like to try out and benchmark Quake 4 yourself then be sure to download the HOC Quake 4 benchmark. I would rate this game anywhere from 8-8.5 / 10 and it's a game that you wouldn't regret buying. I was shocked that I found myself playing parts of it over a second time and it still was fun and exciting. The graphics, AI and sound are all outstanding and really make this a fun game. The multiplayer is designed for up to 16 players but there are NO vehicles in multiplayer however, it's fun, it's fast-moving, and deathmatch is the star of the show, but it's nothing you haven't seen and played to death already. It is here that most of the critics say the game is lacking as one might have been expecting something more action pack but it seems as if they have stuck to the 6 year old Quake III formula. In effect, the multiplayer on offer in Quake IV is very similar to that found in its predecessor Quake III: Arenaonly with much stronger graphics.

The multiplayer modes are fairly standard and include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Tournament, Capture the Flag, and Arena Capture the Flag. The multiplayer part of the game is arena style, in which you can play as various characters such as Kane, Marines, Strogg and others.

It was pretty straightforward and hassle-free, perhaps a little too straightforward. The Single Player mode is very extensive and while the game does seem to start of a bit on the slow side it does come into its own.
